Honden zijn de meest loyale vrienden. Iedereen die ooit een hond heeft gehad weet dat.
De 9-jarige hond Dory was dol op haar baasje. En toen haar baasje op een dag niet meer wakker werd, was ze er kapot van.
En ze deed het enige wat ze kon. Ze wachtte.
Het baasje van Dory was in haar slaap overleden. Hoewel we er nooit zeker van kunen zijn hoeveel Dory begreep van de situatie, wat zeker is dat het allemaal zeer stressvol voor haar moet zijn geweest.
Uren werden dagen en dagen werden weken. Nog steeds was niemand op de hoogte van wat er was gebeurd.
UPDATE 11-27-17: At 5:50 pm tonight, Dory's shelter hold expired so we can now officially welcome her to the GPAH…

Een hele maand ging voorbij voordat er iemand achter kwam dat het baasje van Dory dood thuis lag. En toen vonden ze Dory, doodsbang en zwak aan de zijde van haar baasje.
Dory werd naar de Harris County Animal Shelter gebracht voor zorg. Het moet een enorme opluchting zijn geweest voor kleine Dory om eindelijk weer mensen te zien en wat liefde en zorg te krijgen, na al die tijd alleen in het huis.
Dory bleef in het asiel voor een paar dagen terwijl het personeel contact zocht met de familie van het baasje met de vraag of iemand haar naar huis kon nemen. Maar niemand wilde dat
Op zoek naar een nieuw huis
Uiteindelijk, na lang wachten, werd Dory door de organisatie Greyhound Pets of America meegenomen, die als doel hadden haar aan een huis te helpen.
¨Toen we haar oppikten, was ze duidelijk gestrest,¨ zegt Arden Tucker van Greyhound Pets of America tegen The Dodo.
Maar ondanks het rouwen voor haar vorige eigenaar, ging het goed met Dory. Ze was wat dun, maar is nu op weg haar kracht te hervinden.
De organisatie heeft haar nu in een pleeggezin geplaatst waar ze zal blijven tot men een permanent thuis voor haar heeft gevonden. En na alle aandacht dat dit verhaal heeft gekregen, zal het niet lang duren voordat iemand dit schatje meeneemt!

Mijn hart brak toen ik dacht aan hoe verschrikkelijk de ervaring moet zijn geweest voor Dory!
Gelukkig is ze nu veilig. Ik hoop dat ze een prachtig leven zal hebben!
